Transtector Systems describes the I2R Series as the latest evolution in advanced silicon surge protection devices designed to suppress power surges at either 120 or 240V AC main and branch service panels. The I2R Series was developed in response to global market demand for silicon in a compact DIN rail footprint. It offers a surge current survivability of up to 10kA in a design that fits the standard European 35mm DIN profile.
14 months in development, this latest achievement represents over 1500 personnel hours of research and development and has resulted in seven pending US patents.
"You can't overstate the fact that when downtime or equipment reliability is an issue, silicon is the necessary suppressor technology", said Mark Hendricks, Transtector's Director of Engineering.
"The I2R Series provides the highest silicon suppression capability in a DIN rail package".
This CE-approved surge protective device offers simplified wiring and individually fused, "hot-swap" plug-in suppressor modules.
The modules feature power and suppression status indicators and allow users to service or upgrade them without unwiring the unit.
Available in single, split, Y and delta phase configurations, the suppressor modules are interchangeable, eliminating the need for stocking phase-specific spares.
In addition to its DIN rail mounting, the I2R Series can be bolted to a backplane or housed in a Nema 4X enclosure.
The I2R Series design has 125 possible configurations to allow maximum compatibility with a variety of applications.
"This truly was a market-driven development", said Shawn Thompson, Managing Director at Transtector.
"Companies worldwide are increasingly turning to silicon for reliable, nondegrading surge suppression.
The I2R Series will work hand in hand with our Apex Series to provide a comprehensive surge suppression solution for AC service panels, cabinet load centres and at the individual equipment level".
