Europay International has awarded EMV level 2 certification to the Sagem D-920 and D-950 payment terminals.
This certification is a major step forward for the Sagem 900 range and ranks Sagem among the first manufacturers to fulfil the software requirements set by EMV.
The EMV specifications have been laid down by the international payment organisation formed by Europay International, MasterCard and Visa, to define the future world standards for banking smart cards and make payments safer.
Card holders, shopkeepers and banks will directly benefit from this new standard which guarantees a satisfactory payment process for each of all three players thanks to formal authentication of the banking card and electronic payment signature.
This EMV Level 2 accreditation as well as the deployment of smart cards in numerous countries will allow Sagem to be present in new markets, opening new development perspectives.
It also demonstrates Sagem's knowhow in the design and production of payment terminals that conform to the new international standards, as well as the company's capacity to deliver open and durable hardware and software solutions.
