Flo Healthcare chose Saft Ni-MH battery packs because of numerous advantages over the previous sealed lead acid batteries.
Saft has received a $2 million order from Flo Healthcare to design and supply nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery packs for its mobile clinical workstations The battery packs will provide power for the fully integrated mobile workstation, allowing portable IT connections that aid nurses in capturing pertinent data necessary for better patient care

The use of Ni-MH reduces the overall weight by 33%, increases the number of charge/discharge cycles, and offers a more environmentally friendly solution, compared with SLA chemistries.
Saft is providing its 12-cell Ni-MH VH D 9500 battery packs delivering 9500mAh at 14.4V.
Another key benefit of the Flo Healthcare workstations is their ability to offer customers "energy on demand" by adding packs in parallel to increase the workstation's runtime.
This was made possible because of Flo Healthcare's microcontroller based power system that can charge from three to six packs in parallel.
Saft's technical experts worked closely with Flo Healthcare and integrated a sophisticated charge algorithm to accomplish this technical challenge.
