Battery power for
Bluetooth payment terminals
Financial transactions systems company Ingenico has chosen Saft VH AA Ni-MH batteries to power its two latest wireless payment terminals
One, the Ingenico 7770 is the first in the world to use Bluetooth wireless technology to provide communications at distances of up to 200m from its base. Both of the new terminals are compact and powerful and well suited to fast-moving retail environments. The Ingenico 7300 gives retailers the freedom to accept offline credit card payments at the point of purchase and away from the counter or cash desk.

The Bluetooth capability of the Ingenico 7770 makes it an ideal 'pay at table' solution for cafes and restaurants as well as large retail premises.
The Bluetooth-enabled device benefits from good transmission quality, security, wide coverage, long battery life, and complete mobility.
Bluetooth wireless technology is ideal for networks consisting of from two to seven terminals.
Merchants obtain high performance because several devices can transfer data at the same time with a top spec of up to 700Kbit/s.
It can provide substantial cost savings since a number of connected devices only needs one phone line for card authorisation.
Combining the performance of the five Saft VH AA 1500 cells and the lower power demands of the Bluetooth standard means that the Ingenico 7770 can handle around 200 transactions.
The Saft VH series has been developed specifically for applications requiring high-energy rechargeable batteries for use in frequent cycling conditions.
The cells, which feature a foam positive electrode, a nickel metal-hydride negative electrode and an alkaline electrolyte, combine super high capacity and quick and fast charge capability with an extended cycle life and improved storage ability.
The cells used on the Ingenico terminals deliver 6V at 1500mAh and are compact measuring 15 x 72 x 52mm and weighing just 145g.
Bluetooth wireless technology is a universal open standard being widely adopted in information technology and communications.
Its frequency hopping helps to increase security, which also extends to authentication, cryptography and network-addressing methods. Request a free brochure from Saft Rechargeable Battery Systems....
