Three-gantry machine claims top flexibility

At Nepcon Brighton, the Electronics Assembly Division of Siemens Logistics and Assembly Systems will exhibit the Siplace HF/3 machine.

The three-gantry Siplace HF/3 placement machine is capable of placing more than 40,000 components per hour, ranging from 0201 to 85 x 85/125 x 10mm.

A choice of placement heads - 6-nozzle, 12-nozzle and TwinHead - on each gantry give top flexibility, absolute precision and maximum performance, thereby fulfilling the very high demands imposed by the electronics market of today.

The Siplace HF/3 is equipped with four narrow changeover tables which are automatically pulled in, aligned and connected.

The three changeover tables provide a maximum of 60 feeder positions that can be fitted with up to 180 x 8mm tracks.

Alternatively, two matrix tray changers (MTCs) can be installed for components supplied on trays.

All components are picked up with a constant cycle time, and even refilling the MTC with fresh trays does not interrupt the production flow.

The machine is built on a low-torsion and low-vibration cast steel frame.

The frame is equipped with three gantries made of carbon-fibre composites that weigh one fifth of a comparable steel construction but are twice as rigid.

Together with powerful linear drives for the x-, y- and z-axes, this construction guarantees extremely high precision - up to 30um at 4 sigma with a TwinHead and 55um at 4 sigma with the 6-nozzle or 12-nozzle collect and place heads.

The highly flexible Siplace HF/3 meets the requirements of all application sectors, whether IT, telecomms or automotive.

Like all Siplace modules, the machine can be integrated into any production environment.
