ExpertSearch at IEE.org is a scalable and cost-effective software tool that allows engineers, buyers and suppliers to search, compare and select from SiliconExpert's comprehensive electronic parts database. The web-based ExpertSearch allows for easily finding parts through multiple search methods using parametric features, manufacturer, product line, part number or part description. The ExpertSearch search tool is state of the art, with a fast and friendly user interface giving users the ability to compare parts, retrieve datasheets, identify cross-referencing and access part lifecycle information.

SiliconExpert reckons its database is the largest and most comprehensive in the industry, with more than 20 million orderable parts from more than a thousand suppliers, covering hundreds of product categories.

It is accurate, updated on a weekly basis and new parts are continuously added to ensure it includes all the latest information.

"We have been using the SiliconExpert electronic component database for a few years now.

We believe that the database provides quality, up-to-date component information and addresses the needs of both buyers and engineers", said Sonny Horton, Director of Global eBusiness, Memec.

"SiliconExpert has been a valued partner of ours and we are excited about the latest product developments coming out of the company".

Today's high-tech companies are driven to create innovative products and bring them to market quickly.

Achieving these goals requires that design and component engineers find the component with the best fit the first time in order to minimise design changes, which can cause costly product delays.

Unfortunately, many of the current electronics industry component databases tend to be out of date, inaccurate or incomplete.

"The trend today is for even more importance to be on proper part selection since a greater portion of the OEM build is being outsourced, thereby outsourcing management of the supply chain", said Michael Kirschner, President of Design Chain Associates.

"Also, the rate of technology change continues to accelerate and that has serious implications for anyone designing products.

Engineering and procurement professionals increasingly need current and reliable component information".

SiliconExpert provides intelligent components management solutions for original equipment manufacturers, electronics manufacturing service providers, parts suppliers and distributors, via its web-based tools and database.

SiliconExpert solutions assist in selecting optimal parts based on both business and technical criteria and promote the re-use of preferred parts.

With SiliconExpert's intelligent component management solutions, engineering and procurement professionals can easily manage parts, consolidate suppliers, achieve volume discounts, source for strategic requirements, and validate bill-of-material.

"ExpertSearch is designed to deliver fundamental benefits such as improved productivity, faster time-to-market for new products, and identification of multisourced and active parts, which can reduce expense and risk", said Omar Ahmad, President and CEO of SiliconExpert.

"Our combination of software and services guarantees customers will find the parts they need instantaneously.

For OEMS and EMS providers, this can translate into millions of dollars in bottom line financial impact".

ExpertSearch is the first in a series of software tools that will be introduced publicly by SiliconExpert this year.

Future products will be offered in both ASP and enterprise versions and will provide additional features and increased functionality.

ExpertSearch is available immediately, by subscription A 14-day free trial of ExpertSearch is also now available online.
