A new 8Mbit high-speed low-power SRAM will interest designers working on portable electronic products that are less memory demanding than many feature rich products

Silicon7 has introduced the latest version of its 8Mbit high-speed low-power SRAM and it will interest designers working on portable electronic products that are less memory demanding than many feature rich products. According to Silicon7's European Sales Director Michael Edwards, these products include the more basic cellular phone handsets, PDAs and other battery-operated consumer devices currently being introduced into regions not yet ready for more sophisticated, feature-rich products.

The SV5P8016UFA is an 8Mbit high-speed low-power static random access memory (SRAM) organised as 512K x 16bit.

It uses Silicon7's CompactCell SRAM which was specifically developed for cost-sensitive low-power computing and communications applications.

The CompactCell single-transistor cell with fully compatible asynchronous SRAM interface provides lower-cost and low power operation yielding 55 and 70ns access times with maximum operating current of 100uA.

Operating supply voltage is from 2.7 to 3.3V.

Fully RoHS compliant, the SV5P8016UFA is packaged in a 48ball-TBGA device with an industrial temperature range making it ideal for a multitude of handheld low power applications with 3V operation.
