Helium is a new design flow automation and management environment that supports Sondrel's IC implementation services

New from leading European IC consultancy Sondrel, Helium is a design flow automation and management environment that supports the in-house and manpower IC implementation services it offers to its customers. Sondrel and its customers collaborate on increasingly advanced chip development projects at small process geometries.

Helium helps designers to manage complex tasks by automating steps in the design flow, resulting in enhanced productivity and reduced risk.

Helium helps design teams to start projects quickly.

An intuitive interface to guide design flow automation ensures that design teams can be productive from day one.

New engineers can be up-to-speed on projects in a matter of hours.

Helium can be used to specify and control sequences of design tasks to ensure that one designer can quickly and easily resume work commenced by another without loss of productivity.

An interactive GUI makes it easy to check project status, and by controlling log files assists documentation.

Unlike other design flows, which are specific to one foundry or EDA vendor, Helium supports best-in-class point tools, giving the user greater choice and a class-leading design flow out of the box.

The initial release supports different semiconductor processes and tools from Magma, Mentor Graphics and Synopsys.

Graham Curren, CEO, Sondrel, comments: 'Our customers need to manage more than 20 discrete design steps in a typical chip development flow'.

'Helium is our solution for making this process reliable and repeatable'.
