Flexible configuration for novel cabinet
range
A new cabinet platform can be specific when there are application issues and flexible where the application has to be variable due to technical or cost reasons.
Cabinets represent the largest market for Schroff, and the company is answering user, market and legislative demands with the launch of an all new range based on new concepts The main components of the new Varistar cabinet platform consist of a frame, which is available in two versions, various cover parts and an extensive programme of assembly and accessory parts

Cut-down prices for CPCI
Europac Integral offers all the benefits of a standard CPCI system including high stability, robustness and EMC shielding but at a far-reduced cost.
This combination allows construction of a very flexible range of configurations.
The two frame versions differ in the maximum load carrying capacity, either 400kg (Slim-Line) or 800kg (Heavy-Duty).
Both frames are configured for 19in inner assemblies, but the Slim-Line frame is also suitable for ETSI assemblies in telecommunications applications.

The outer dimensions of both frames correspond to the ETSI standard.
As the footprint of both frames is the same, the two types can be used side by side.
All cover parts, such as doors, side and rear panels, top covers and base plates, can be used with either frame, providing a unified appearance for both types.
The new frames are constructed from a hollow chamber profile, which guarantees high stability.
The 25mm incremental perforation on the frame ensures the optimum positioning of the assembly parts.
The profile is constructed in such a way, that components can be fitted from the inside or from the outside.
Therefore simple assembly is possible if the cover parts have already been fitted or if the frame is still uncovered.
The frame profile has a 45-degree angle, which can be used as an additional mounting surface.
In this way the fixing of hinges in any position is possible, which is useful when shortened doors are used or when several cabinets are arranged side by side.
The 45-degree angle is also the basis for a new sealing concept for both EMC shielding and IP protection.
The EMC shielding and IP protection (to IP55) or a combination of both is directly fixed to the 45-degree angle.
The EMC shielding is carried out from a cover via a seal directly onto the neighbouring cover, thereby creating a Faraday cage.
The frame itself is not involved, and costly surface treatments, such as zinc plating are superfluous.
The new shielding concept promises a significant improvement EMC shielding effectiveness.
A further important innovation of the cabinet platform is the locking concept, with a mechanical door handle and new locking bar on the inside of the door which enables the integration of a number of different locking cams.
Therefore a lower force is required and the pressure of the door onto the sealing elements is more evenly applied.
This is a particular advantage for tall doors.
Through the use of contra-rotating cams the friction is equalised and the one-sided force of the vertical force on the door is avoided.
Varistar is a cabinet platform for many market sectors.
With typical cabinet ranges, users have traditionally had to chose a specific cabinet for each project.
But now the user can serve the requirements of multiple projects with a single platform with variable configurability.
Even though the demands of different market sectors can vary greatly there is now a common denominator with practical solutions.
The Varistar cabinet platform can be specific when there are application issues and flexible where the application has to be variable due to technical or cost reasons.
