An economical security dongle comes preprogrammed with a unique, unalterable identification number readable from any USB port

The DLP-D is a new, very economical security dongle that comes preprogrammed with a unique, unalterable identification number readable from any USB port. As each serial number is unique, this device provides a way of securely linking application software to a specific hardware dongle. When the free, downloadable USB drivers are installed on a PC, it's easy to read the ID of the device.

For software creators who don't want to have their software copied freely, this device provides a safety feature that only allows operation with a specific DLP-D security key.

Although this capability is not new, the unique additional features provided by DLP-D are.

In addition to tying a specific DLP-D to application software, the serial number can be encrypted to prevent tampering when stored in the onboard EEPROM within DLP-D.

Additional information can be stored in DLP-D such as date, user name, PC identification etc.

The DLP-D easily attaches to a keychain, so it can also be used for PC or equipment access control.

Demonstration software in both Visual C++ and Visual Basic is available for free download with purchase of DLP-D, demonstrating how to read the serial number, read from and write to the internal 128byte user area EEPROM.

The optional Software Guardian developer's kit software allows purchasers to provide many valuable additional features such as the ability to dedicate software to individual users, or periodically check for the dongle.

Software Guardian provides a simple way for developers to restrict software to a specific individual or PC, and contains a whole library of functions usable with any Windows-based software language using ActiveX controls.

A more sophisticated version Software Guardian Pro 2 provides additional easy-to-use capabilities, invaluable to software authors.

These include the ability to validate user identity without requiring any network or internet connection, attach software to a LAN, WAN, or corporate network, detect software tampering, enable/disable software features, meter software usage, enforce periodic software renewal, reactivate expired software licenses etc.

The DLP-D is available from stock at US $12.99 each.

Software Guardian Pro is available for US $62.00.

Software Guardian Pro 2 is available for US $179.00.
