Sasken has set up a new subsidiary to expand its coverage of the telecomms market into providing consulting engineering services for service providers and network system vendors

It will also enable Sasken to provide a broader and distinctly differentiated service offering in the telecomms domain. Sasken Network Systems will provide services to enhance the engineering capabilities of customers by drawing on comprehensive, global market experience at every stage of the product, system, solution or service lifecycle and by taking ownership of many of activities in the operations domain.

Sasken has amassed immense capabilities in software engineering services, delivering to many of the world's leading network equipment vendors, platform developers, service providers and terminal manufacturers.

While Sasken's focus is primarily on embedded software that enables functionality in the network, Sasken Network Systems is focused on delivering services to enable effective network operations and service delivery.

"This makes it possible for us to address a larger market while still capitalising on our core competence in the telecomms arena", explains Rajiv Mody, Sasken's Chairman and CEO.

"This is also in line with our approach of delivering engineering services in areas where we have the domain knowledge, core competence and intellectual property".

In keeping with this approach, Sasken has staffed the executive management of Sasken Network Systems with senior industry personnel with relevant domain expertise and competency.

Madan S Kumar the CEO of Sasken Network Systems most recently was the Vice President and General Manager of the Network Operations Software business at Lucent Technologies; and Kevin Koenig, the COO of Sasken Network Systems most recently was the Vice President of Software Engineering for the Network Operations Software business.

This has been further complemented by the recruitment of key personnel with in-depth domain knowledge in the area of network operations.

Drawing from their domain and industry expertise and from Sasken's considerable telecomms software and solutions heritage over the past decade, Sasken Network Systems offers customers systems and solutions consulting, product design, development and maintenance services.

Sasken Network Systems will also assist customers in the planning and implementation of systems and data migration, as well as offering systems integration, solution design and lifecycle maintenance.
