Military contract covers Li-SO2 batteries
Saft has been awarded a major multiyear contract to supply the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps with a family of lithium sulphur dioxide batteries
Saft has been awarded a major multiyear contract by the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to supply the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps with a family of lithium sulphur dioxide (Li-SO2) batteries. The terms of the contract include six Li-SO2 batteries for several portable military applications such as communication, GPS and rescue systems.

This contract was awarded to Saft for 100% of the US military needs for this type of battery.
The contract with DLA is an indefinite quantity contract with a two-year base period for an amount of up to US $10 million and three one-year option periods for a total amount of up to $26.6 million.
The contract will be supplied from Saft's Valdese, North Carolina facility that has been the leading supplier of these types of military batteries through both Middle East conflicts.
