A leading US provider of voice, video and data services has selected Saft Intensium 1 Power rechargeable Li-ion (lithium-ion) batteries as one of the solutions to provide an exceptionally compact, reliable, safe and zero-maintenance source of backup power for its developing IPTV services in a demanding outside plant cabinet application, where internal summer temperatures can reach +65C The contract, which is Saft's first series order from a major US telecomms operator for the new Intensium 1 Power design, could eventually see thousands of the specialised telecomms batteries installed in outside cabinets across the USA over the next three to five years
