Two new high-input-voltage single-channel step-down switching regulators minimise PCB space and component count by combining high levels of integration with compact package design and high current handling capability Rohm's new BD9701T and BD9701FP regulators offer maximum switching currents of 1.5A and can accommodate input voltages between 8 and 35V. Output voltages of between 1.0 and 32V can be adjusted through the use of an external resistor. The BD9701T is supplied in a 5-pin TO220 package and the BD9701FP is available as a 5-pin D-PAK.
Each device incorporates a P-channel FET that contributes to a high efficiency of 85%, and a 100kHz oscillator.
Overcurrent protection and a selectable standby mode for reduced power consumption are also provided as standard features.
Ideal for audio-visual, office equipment and other applications where space is limited, the BD9701T and BD9701FP regulators allow designers to rapidly implement a full DC/DC convertor by adding just a coil, a Schottky diode, and capacitors.
Both the new devices have an operating temperature range from -40 to +85C and a maximum power dissipation rated at 2.0W.
