One chip powers up all handset diodes
A new intelligent LED management IC incorporates all the LED drivers and charge pump circuitry needed to control the white and RGB LEDs used in portable applications such as mobile phones and PDAs
Rohm's BH6046KN IC is suitable for LCD and keypad backlights and other full-colour LED applications. The device incorporates a four-channel, 16-level brightness control current driver for white LEDs, and a three-channel PWM current driver for RGB LEDs. Also included is a two-channel driver suitable for mobile phone keypad LEDs.

Rohm's new IC features a built-in constant voltage power supply as well as a detection circuit for external phototransistors, which allows the control of LED brightness according to external lighting conditions.
A built-in step-up charge-pump circuit offers 1.5x or 2x boost and can be switched via a serial data input.
Operating voltage for the BH6046KN driver ranges from 3.1 to 4.5V and maximum power dissipation is rated at 450mW.
Operating temperature is rated at between -25 and +80C.
The device is supplied in a small QFN 36-pin package measuring 6.2 x 6.2 x 0.8mm.
