Transistors savie space
without current compromise
A new family of ultrasmall transistors are available in high-power surface mount packages and feature reductions in saturation voltage of up to 90% compared with previous technologies
Rohm's latest family of ultrasmall transistors are available in high-power surface mount packages and feature reductions in saturation voltage of up to 90% compared with previous technologies. The new low saturation voltage transistors offer very low energy consumption characteristics and allow designers to reduce the size and weight of switching and interface circuits without sacrificing current handling capabilities.

Ultrasmall package options include 3-pin TSMT3 devices with power ratings of 0.5W, and 6-pin TSMT6 devices rated at up to 1.25W.
These packages both have dimensions of 2.9 x 1.6 x 1.0mm.
Available in both NPN and PNP versions, the new SMT parts are suitable for power management, load switch applications, and DC/DC conversion in portable applications such as mobile phones, PDAs and camcorders.
The low saturation resistance capability of the devices allows replacements of conventional mosfet solutions.
Expensive P-channel types can be replaced with high performance PNP solutions at lower costs.
Collector currents for the new transistors range from 1 to 6A, while voltage ratings are either 12 or 30V depending on device chosen.
In addition, Rohm can supply further devices in three smaller packages of SC-70, SC-75A and VMT3 measuring just 1.2 x 0.8mm.
Here the current capability ranges from 0.5 to 1.5A.
