A novel range of miniature blue chip LEDs will significantly simplify the design and reduce the component count of 3.0V battery-powered applications.

By eliminating the need for external voltage conditioning circuits and driver ICs, two new miniature blue chip LEDs from Rohm will significantly simplify the design and reduce the component count of 3.0V battery-powered applications Unlike conventional blue LEDs with typical forward voltage ratings of 3.6-3.7V, the Rohm SML512BC2T top view and SMLA12BC2T side view blue LEDs use a new InGaN chip to achieve forward voltage ratings of just 3.0V at a forward current of 5mA
