Rohm and Digiplug to work on multimedia

Rohm and Digiplug are to enter into a long-term partnership aiming at developing enhanced solutions for mobile multimedia applications.

Rohm and Digiplug are to enter into a long-term partnership aiming at developing enhanced solutions for mobile multimedia applications.
Both companies will combine their respective expertise in design and development of powerful integrated circuits and dedicated embedded software to build advanced IC-based audio solutions for today's and tomorrow's mobile handsets.
Their partnership aims at providing the telecom industry with innovative and cost effective components complying with industry standards and meeting the requirements for performance and quality of advanced audio technology integrated in mobile terminals.
Takahiro Ota, Rohm's general manager, Communication LSI Division, said: "Digiplug has already proved its expertise in embedding advanced audio and telecommunication software in various mobile terminals.
We are convinced that, with Digiplug as our software partner and thanks to our recognised experience in high quality integrated audio hardware solutions, we will be able to create the new generation of IC based, flexible and innovative audio products that the telecommunication market requires".

The two Companies intent to launch several joint development projects and their R and D teams have already started working together.
More detailed plans should be announced in the coming weeks.
