Compact KVM system takes up less space
Rose Electronics, a supplier of keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) switching technology, has launched new versions of its RackView server room management station, including Sun specific models
Rose Electronics, the world's foremost supplier of keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) switching technology, has launched new versions of its RackView server room management station, including Sun specific models. RackView Pro is a compact 19in rack-mounted KVM console that requires approximately 87% less space than a standard keyboard, monitor and mouse.

Display switch puts four into one
Rose Electronics has developed a quad display switch that allows any four of many connected KVM switches or computers to be viewed on the same screen simultaneously
RackView Pro can be specified with an optional integrated Rose Electronics KVM or KVMA switch, and/or a catX or fibre extender, making even more economical use of rack space.
RackView is available with a 15, 17 or 19in LCD panel and the heavy-duty RackView keyboards are available in PC or Sun formats for most main European language layouts.
As well as being a complete plug-and-play system for device control, RackView offers environmental advantages: it generates approximately 80% less heat than a conventional keyboard, monitor and mouse, reducing ventilation requirements and overall computer room cooling overheads.
The original 'all-in-one' 15in unit (1U) RackView has been a big success for Rose Electronics, and the product family has now been augmented by the addition of units with bigger screens (17 or 19in), by Sun compatible keyboard units and by 'screen only' units which allow the screen to be viewed through the closed glass rack door, while still only taking up 1U of valuable Rack space.
The increasing use of non-Intel computing platforms such as Sun, means that Rose's introduction of a Sun keyboard version of RackView is a timely and welcome addition to the product range.
