Remploy and Grundfos have celebrated their closer business ties by holding an official opening ceremony for the new Remploy unit at Grundfos' headquarters in Leighton Buzzard. The opening marks the next stage in a partnership first instigated in 2003. The unit - where a Remploy contract manufacturing team produces small and medium volume specialist pump systems - is situated within the Grundfos engineering department.
It currently employs six people and has already proved to be very successful.
Both parties are benefiting from Remploy being on-site in an independent, self-contained production unit with logistics, communication and engineering capacity all under one roof.
With the success of the scheme it is hoped to expand the unit so that Remploy can take on additional functions within the department, becoming even more integrated with Grundfos- activities.
Rob Farran, Remploy Team Leader, said: 'The whole team has been excited setting up the production area and working on the new products coming in'.
'Grundfos- staff have been very supportive and we couldn't have achieved this without them'.
'We're really looking forward to growing the scope of the operation'.
