RF spectrum analyser light enough for field work

The U3741 3GHz RF spectrum analyser weighs only 4.8 kg, almost as light as a handheld instrument, making it suitable for installation, maintenance and frequency monitoring on wireless comms systems.

The U3741 is a cost-efficient RF spectrum analyser and rounds out the portfolio of Advantest instruments at Rohde and Schwarz.

The U3741's design is the same as the 8GHz, 32GHz, and 43GHz models, but with its weight of 4.8 kg it is almost light enough to be a handheld instrument.

The analyser is thus suitable not only for laboratory use but also for installation, maintenance, and frequency monitoring on wireless communications systems up to 3GHz.

The repetition rate of 15trace/s and a sweep time of 20ms make adjustments very easy.

The instrument also has a resolution bandwidth of 100Hz to 1MHz, - 138dBm noise level with internal preamplifier, and a high-level of accuracy with a deviation smaller than 0.5dB.

For measurement and monitoring applications on broadcasting, TV, and mobile radio networks, the U3741 not only displays frequencies but also channel tables.

The analysis of mobile radio signals is simplified by a gated sweep function for burst signals, OBW and ACP analyses, as well as spectral masks for Go/NoGo tests.

By means of various rectifiers, signal averaging, and three signal waveforms with a Max/Min Hold function, the U3741 permits convenient drift measurements on oscillators, for example.

IF, USB, LAN, and IEC/IEEE bus interfaces are part of the basic equipment of the U3741, allowing users to store measurement results and to process them later on a PC without any problem.

In production, the instrument can also be remote controlled via a LAN or IEC/IEEE bus.

The U3741 offers many advantages for mobile use: the 16.5cm high-contrast TFT screen makes it possible to read off 1001 test points without difficulty.

Due to its short warm-up time for specified accuracy and its optional battery pack with an operating time of over 2h, the instrument is ready for use at any location within a short time.

Its ease of operation makes the spectrum analyser suitable even for non experts.

Automatic functions at a keystroke for various power measurements or for measuring harmonics, as well as an automatic tune function, make work easier.

The instrument provides a headphone output for AM/FM signals.

An EMC filter, a 75Ohm impedance for (CA)TV applications, as well as an internal tracking generator from 10kHz to 3GHz (frequency offset up to 1GHz, level setting from - 60 to 0dBm) are available as options.

Moreover, the phase noise behaviour can optionally be improved to 100dBc/Hz (at a carrier spacing of 10kHz) in connection with a resolution bandwidth of 30Hz.
