18GHz spectrum analyser comes to hand
Handheld spectrum analysers perform high-precision terminating power measurements as well as directional power measurements using external power sensors.
Rohde and Schwarz reckons the R and S FSH18 is the world's lightest handheld spectrum analyser up to 18GHz.
The latest member of the established R and S FSH family can be used in the field for a variety of applications in the microwave range.
The R and S FSH18 has the same compact dimensions as the 3 and 6GHz models, plus it features excellent RF characteristics as well as extensive measurement functions.
The R and S FSH18 can characterise signals of weather radar stations, air traffic control systems, satellite systems and microwave links - and simultaneously detect interfering signals.
With its long battery operating time of up to three hours and robust design, it is especially valuable for outdoor use.
As it only weighs 2.5kg, it can be easily carried over longer distances and also on difficult terrain.
The R and S FSH18 can also be used in the lab for general measurement tasks up to 18GHz.
Moreover, the R and S FSH models are the only handheld spectrum analysers worldwide that are able to perform high-precision terminating power measurements as well as directional power measurements by means of external power sensors, thus eliminating the need for an additional power meter during field applications.
Like the FSH3 and FSH6 models, the R and S FSH18 features high measurement accuracy of up to 1.5dB.
In addition to a resolution bandwidth of 100Hz to 1MHz, the R and S FSH18 features an inherent noise of typically - 148dBm at a bandwidth of 1Hz in the range between 3 and 6GHz.
Its simple menu-based operation and predefined measurement functions such as for channel power, electric field strength, and carrier/noise ratio (C/N) make it easy to use.
The R and S FSH-K3 option turns the R and S FSH18 into a receiver for monitoring purposes and for precompliance EMC applications.
In addition, the option includes the CISPR bandwidths 200Hz, 9kHz, 120kHz and 1MHz for EMI emissions measurements.
When equipped with the R and S TS-EMF isotropic antenna, instruments of the R and S FSH family can determine the direction-independent resultant field strength.
The new R and S FSH18 handheld spectrum analyser is available from Rohde and Schwarz starting at Eur 15,078.
