Test system is certified for Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi Alliance and CTIA have certified the R and S TS8991 for performing over-the-air measurements on mobile phones with a Wi-Fi interface.
At the end of October 2006, the Wi-Fi Alliance and CTIA certified an R and S TS8991 for performing over-the-air (OTA) measurements on mobile phones with a Wi-Fi interface.
Rohde and Schwarz is thus the first company worldwide to add a test system to its product portfolio that complies with the current standard for performance tests on WLAN user equipment.
To ensure stable data transmission via mobile phones, manufacturers carry out transmit and receive tests in simulated networks.
For this purpose, the R and S TS8991 measures the power and sensitivity of mobile phones, generates three-dimensional radiation patterns and analyses them.
The standard was successfully implemented in the test system in co-operation with the Telecommunication Metrology Centre (TMC) in China.
At present, it is the only lab worldwide that is able to perform standard-compliant tests by using the R and S TS8991.
The new test system is based on the R and S TS9970, which has already become an established market solution for OTA measurements in networks that support the common mobile radio standards as well as Bluetooth.
Owing to its close co-operation with mobile phone manufacturers, Rohde and Schwarz was the first company to offer a certified solution - also with regard to total isotropic sensitivity (TIS) tests.
