A new option allows broadcasting network operators to monitor single frequency network (SFN) functionality.

A new option allows broadcasting network operators to monitor single frequency network (SFN) functionality.

This helps to prevent transmission failures and can thus save network operators a lot of money.

The R and S ETX-K10 option for the R and S ETX-T DTV monitoring receiver monitors the compliance of specific requirements and signals possible malfunctions at an early stage.

The successfully deployed monitoring receiver thus enhances the failsafe operation of DVB-T networks and continuously monitors their availability.

The R and S ETX-T is a cost-efficient tool for ensuring DVB-T transmission quality.

In combination with universal network characteristics such as TCP/IP, HTTP server and an SNMP agent, the monitoring receiver provides numerous functions that allow efficient monitoring of digital broadcast transmission via remote control.

For this purpose, the R and S ETX can monitor, analyse and record sensitive parameters such as output power, modulation error ratio (MER) and bit error ratio (BER) in real time.

The R and S ETX-T DTV monitoring receiver is specially designed to monitor DVB-T transmission.

Its selective RF front end provides a wide input frequency range from 48 to 862MHz.

The input level ranges from -75 to +20dBm.

An optional preamplifier increases the input sensitivity for low signal levels to -80dBm.

To prevent adjacent channels from impairing the demodulation of the digital signal, three SAW filters for 6, 7 and 8MHz - corresponding to the different standards - are available.

Thus, the R and S ETX-T can be used directly at the transmitter site but also for centrally monitoring DVB-T transmission in the field.

The new option is specially designed to centrally monitor SFN networks in the field.

By using this option, network operators can measure and monitor the signal delay, level and frequency offset of all transmitters in the SFN network.

The demodulated MPEG-2 transport stream can optionally be analysed in real time for syntax integrity (first, second and third order priority errors in accordance with ETSI TR 101 290).

Thanks to the SNMP agent embedded in the R and S ETX, broadcasting network operators can seamlessly integrate the instrument into existing network management systems.

By means of a standard web browser, several users can access detailed analyses and measurement results of the R and S ETX via the network interface.

The R and S ETX-T and the new R and S ETX-K10 option for SFN functionality are now available from Rohde and Schwarz.
