Hardware and software upgrade video measurement
Rohde and Schwarz has equipped its R and S DVM400 digital video measurement system with a new computer platform.
Rohde and Schwarz has equipped its R and S DVM400 digital video measurement system with a new computer platform.
The DVM400 monitors, analyses, generates and records MPEG-2 transport streams.
By using a 1500MHz Pentium M processor, the computing power was increased three- to fourfold.
The integrated software decoder can thus display MPEG-2 HDTV signals directly on the system.
The R and S DVM400 measurement system now supports a dual-screen desktop.
In addition to the built-in display, data can be output on an external monitor.
This can be the user interface of the recorder and generator board or the decoded picture, for example.
The display on the external monitor is independent of the built-in display.
A new display provides an improved viewing angle and enhanced contrast.
As USB 2.0 is supported, larger volumes of data such as complete transport streams can be copied in minimal time.
In addition, the R and S DVM400 now includes a gigabit Ethernet remote interface that allows even faster copying of data.
Replaying and recording transport streams to and from an external server is accelerated as well.
Overhauling the base instrument virtually doubled the memory capacity of the recorder and generator boards.
As a result, up to 200Gbyte memory space is now available.
The DVM400 and other instruments from the R and S DVM family can now be enhanced by the new DVM-K12 template monitoring function.
This allows automatic monitoring of deviations of the measured transport stream from the previously defined template.
The R and S DVM with golden stream function can easily generate templates by means of the applied transport stream.
The R and S DVM-K10 in-depth analysis has been expanded for real-time buffer analysis, which supports MPEG-2 as well as the new MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 standard.
Users can thus analyse transport, multiplex and element buffers in accordance with the MPEG-4 standard to ensure that no errors have occurred during signal generation.
The option supports the standard-defined video buffer verifier model, the leak method as well as the hypothetical reference decoder.
The new R and S DVM400 system platform, the R and S DVM-K12 template monitoring function and the R and S DVM-K10 in-depth analysis with real-time buffer analysis are now available from Rohde and Schwarz.
