Analyser gets the measure of basestation power
The R and S FSH3 handheld spectrum analyser can now be used to perform code domain power measurements on 3GPP basestations.
Rohde and Schwarz has expanded the functionality of its R and S FSH3 handheld spectrum analyser.
The new R and S FSH-K4 option now adds capability to perform code domain power measurements on 3GPP basestations.
The R and S FSH3 handheld spectrum analyser has an upper frequency limit of 3GHz, and has established itself very successfully on the market.
The analyser was designed to cover a broad range of applications with the focus on portability and mobility.
Applications include areas of mobile communications such as installation, maintenance, servicing and field strength measurements as well as use in labs, universities and in production.
The R and S FSH3 offers in a single unit virtually all the required measurement functions especially for the installation and maintenance of mobile radio basestations.
In addition to the new 3GPP CDP measurements, this includes spectrum analysis, channel power measurements, scalar and vector network analysis, distance-to-fault (DTF) measurements, one-port cable-loss measurements and high-precision terminating and directional power measurements using external power sensors.
The new R and S FSH-K4 firmware option enhances the R and S FSH3 functionality by adding standard-compliant 3GPP FDD code domain power measurements on basestations.
Test parameters include the overall power as well as the powers of the main code channels such as the CPICH (common pilot channel), the P-CCPCH (primary common control physical channel), the P-SCH (primary synchronisation channel) and the S-SCH (secondary synchronisation channel).
The carrier frequency offset and the error vector magnitude (EVM) are also measured and displayed.
The R and S FSH-K4 includes an automatic level control function that allows users to quickly set the optimal reference level.
For basestations equipped with two antennas, the user can choose the antenna to which the spectrum analyser is to synchronise (antenna diversity).
The R and S FSH-K4 firmware option is now available from Rohde and Schwarz.
The option can be used on the R and S FSH3 Model 23 equipped with the latest hardware.
Existing users can download the firmware (10.0) for enabling the R and S FSH-K4 from the Rohde and Schwarz website.
