Rohde and Schwarz has optimised its new NGPL6/5 programmable power supply for use on mobile phone production lines. The quadruple power supply allows manufacturers to perform the final tests cost-efficiently, especially after the assembly of previously tested components. Thanks to its compact design, the 19in unit occupies only 2U.

The space saving instrument offers four channels, each simultaneously capable of a maximum output power of 30W.

Four DUTs can thus be inserted into the test adapters, supplied with appropriate voltage and initialised for the subsequent test.

The power supply provides up to 6V/5A per channel at a back-reading resolution of 1mV and 100uA.

The control behaviour of the output stages has been optimised for the special requirements of mobile phone tests.

To keep test costs for mobile phones low, the power supply unit does not include an expensive and elaborate control and display unit.

Nevertheless, important information is signalled immediately even during ongoing production via an LED status display.

A terminal program is available for remote control and servicing.

The program can be installed on any existing service PC and operates the supply via the RS232C interface on the front panel.

The R and S NGPL6/5 is equipped with an IEEE488.2 interface as standard.

A LAN interface is under development.
