RF system solution suits Samsung
A quad-band Edge RF system solution from Renesas Technology is being used by Samsung Electronics in its new Edge mobile handset
The RF system was selected by Samsung because it greatly simplifies the implementation of the radio. It has been successfully integrated with Agere Systems' Sceptre HPE2 baseband solution for Edge. The new Edge handset is already in volume production. The highly integrated RF system solution, which is being demonstrated by Renesas Technology at 3GSM Congress in France, was the first full type approval compliant advanced Edge RF system.

'Power control and managing TX noise can be a very difficult issue to resolve for Edge, but these are automatically addressed as part of our solution', said Yasuhiro Nunogawa, Mobile Application Engineering Department Manager, System Solution Business Group of Renesas Technology Corp.
'A single RF shield is all that is necessary to protect the solution which shows very stable performance over a wide range of conditions including extreme mismatch at the antenna'.
'In addition to improving performance in the field this also means that the system is easy to design and is highly stable in manufacture'.
