Reach Technology has already shipped more than 100 starter kits containing its segment-leading SLCD small display controller. The company released a major upgrade in 2004, driving wide acceptance by both domestic and international customers. Reach added features to maintain the product's status as the fastest and most flexible embedded drawing colour display product available on the market.

The Reach SLCD upgrades include 'portrait' mode capability, larger fonts (up to 120 points), an oscilloscope type chart object, VU-meter type level bars, and power-on macro execution.

In addition, the product is available in an industrial enclosure that meets NEMA 4 water and dust protective standards.

The SLCD controller drives small LCD panels by Hitachi, Kyocera, Sharp, NEC and others that are experiencing a high adoption rate in medical, automotive and military embedded product development.

Over 100 SLCD design kits have been shipped to customers in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Turkey and Israel.

The board has been designed into several medical products, industrial process controls, and a building automation system.

Customers primarily adopt the SLCD where time-to-market is critical because the Reach product can be 'dropped-into' most existing microprocessor based equipment designs.

'As more OEMs add small LCD screens into their embedded products, they choose the Reach board because it is a cost-efficient way to dramatically improve product appeal and performance', said Jonathan More, President, Reach Technology.

'We are fulfilling a growing need for customers who want PC-like graphics without the cost and complexity of an embedded PC'.

The SLCD controller is available today with an evaluation kit cost of $295 and a single piece board priced at $145, with quantity discounts available.

Kits may be purchased from the company's website.
