New from Radiatron, the Yamaichi YED274 series of spring probe test contactors provide up to 500,000 cycles operating life and good high frequency characteristics. They need less frequent replacement than lower grade products from other suppliers, thereby reducing costs, and produce minimal "ball marking" when testing BGA devices. Yamaichi offers an unlimited choice of lid designs that can be adapted to specific applications.

There are handler interfaces for automatic test and manual test lids can be clamshell, screw-fit or dual-action.

Custom probes, designed at Yamaichi's European Design Centre in Munich, can be matched to the design of existing boards and can normally be delivered within 6 to 8 weeks.

No further adapters are then needed, so the IC socket outline and profile dimensions are kept to a minimum.

The bases of the probes are machined from solid Peek (polyetheretherketone - a thermoplastic polymer with excellent mechanical properties), or aluminium to avoid the expense and delay associated with custom mould tools.

Yamaichi is the world's largest supplier of IC sockets for test and burn in with over 60% market share.

This dominance has been achieved through exceptional product quality and competitive pricing.
