EADS Multicoms has selected RAD Data Communications' Compressed Voice System (CVS) to maximise leased line traffic over satellite and SDH links. Multicoms operates an SDH and satellite long distance telecommunications network, and has developed its own long-distance telephony solutions and services to interconnect with African, Asian, East European and Middle Eastern countries in order to deliver the highest western operator quality. During the development of its network, Multicoms was constantly aware of the need to reduce its infrastructure cost while preserving voice quality.

In order to meet market needs and demand, Multicoms decided to implement CVS to increase the capacity of its links connecting France to several foreign countries, either via satellite or SDH.

Multicoms' SS7/IP network successfully integrated more than 14 compressed E1 lines using RAD's technology, which according to Gilles Deveau, Multicoms Chief Executive Officer, "is a very cost-effective solution that really helps Multicoms to ensure its customers premium services".

"The expertise of Connect Data in the field of satellite transmission and voice compression was a key factor in offering the best solution to Multicoms", says Laurent Monnet, Account Manager at Connect Data, the RAD Data Communications distributor that contracted the sale.

"RAD's CVS is clearly the ideal solution for this type of application", Monnet continues.

"It is precisely because CVS can compress up to 360 voice calls on a single E1 that satellite carriers like EADS Multicoms can increase revenue".
