Tool enhancements for the Microware OS-9 RTOS help developers speed the time to market of high performance automotive, medical and industrial automation applications

RadiSys Corp has announced a broad range of development tool enhancements for its Microware OS-9 real-time operating system (RTOS) designed to help developers speed the time to market of high performance automotive, medical and industrial automation applications. The industry-standard Eclipse development environment is now supported, shortening the learning curve for designers migrating from other operating systems and increasing support for third-party tool integration.

Other time to market enhancements include the addition of real-time debugging support for the Lauterbach in-circuit debugger, allowing designers to debug applications running in the target system and at full speed.

Other additions include support for multiple OS solutions.

Developers targeting Intel multi-core processors can now combine the power of OS-9 for high-performance real-time applications with general purpose Linux-based applications for less critical or legacy applications.

Industrial and automotive designers will find support for the Freescale MPC 5554, a PowerPC-based processor optimised for the needs of industrial and engine control applications.

They will also benefit from a rapid application development environment for CANbus, an increasingly popular protocol for embedded industrial and automotive communications.

'This exciting suite of solutions clearly provides developers with a number of key features that address the most demanding needs', said Wade Clowes, Vice President of the Commercial Market for RadiSys.

'RadiSys continues to ensure that OS-9 not only remains the best and most advanced choice for real-time operating systems but supports the most desirable and important applications and design tools'.

The Microware OS-9 suite of development tools is available immediately.
