American Industrial Systems (AIS) has introduced an ultra-rugged mobile PDA.

The device features MIL-810F Environmental Engineering compliance, MIL-461F Control of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility ratings; designed for use in adverse conditions.

The rugged PDA features a 3.7in Transflective TFT LCD screen, providing vibrant colour and sharp text in all environments, including direct outdoor sunlight, suitable for running applications and reading documents.

An integrated resistive touchscreen provides input and control flexibility for applications such as GPS navigation, testing applications and communication.

There is a built-in 802.11 b/g/n WLAN module, Bluetooth V2.0 +EDR, GPS/Gallileo receivers and 3G GPRS modules for increased range and tracking information.

AIS military-rated rugged PDA is suited for military, warehousing, transportation, logistics, field-construction and industrial-automation usage.

The rugged housing has been rated to IP67 dust and waterproof standards, completely sealing against dust and capable of submersion into water up to 1m.

It also features a range of -20 to 60C with a storage temperature of -40 to 70C, following MIL-810F high- and low-temperature test standards.

MIL-810F shock-, vibration-, drop- and humidity-test standards are all met by the housing.

Custom connectors cover the 2X RS-232, 2X USB Type A, USB Mini type B, RJ-45, headphone and microphone audio, Micro SD, and compact flash ports, sealing them to the IP67 standard.

Powering the unit is a Marvell PXA270 624MHz processor and 256MB RAM, which offer high reliability and low power consumption.

Windows CE 5.0 or Windows Mobile 6.1 are available preloaded onto the unit.

Optional accessories for the Mobile PDA include extended battery module, docking station, external military connector box, vehicle-mounting fixtures and military carrying bags.
