Power-One reckons the 600W PALS600-2482 is the industry's most powerful AC/DC standard product specifically designed for power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications. This high-power-density (9W/in3) 1U-high power supply is designed for powering PoE systems and associated appliances such as IP phones and remote access devices. Full compliance to IEEE802.3af includes extremely low noise and ripple on the 48V DC at 9A output and 1500V AC (2250V DC) isolation between this output and all other outputs and interface signals.

A second output provides 12V DC at 16A, and a 12V DC at 500mA standby output facilitates I2C interface operation and host-system startup.

Interface signals include I2C, power fail, active-current share, remote sense, output good, power-supply present and remote enable.

Additional performance features include internal-diode isolation for parallel or redundant operation, IEC61000-3-2 compliant PFC with inrush-current limit, full-power operation to 50C, and with power-derated operation to 70C.

Protection features include overload and short circuit, brownout, overtemperature and fan fail warnings and shutdowns, output overvoltage, and MOV-input-transient protection.

The fully enclosed 264.2 x 101.6 x 40.6mm package includes front-panel alarm and monitor LEDs, AC-input connector, on/off switch, integral handle, fan inlet, and hot-swap SSI-type rear connector.

Safety agency approvals include: UL60950-1/CSA 22.2 No 60950-1, EN60950-1 (TUV), and IEC60950-1.

Pricing for the PALS600 is $475 each in quantities of 100.

Evaluation units are available from stock to four weeks.

Production quantities are typically available in eight to ten weeks.
