Curtiss-Wright Controls has received a contract worth approximately $4 million from General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Curtiss-Wright Controls will produce the autoloader controller, replenisher controller and turret system electronic unit (TSEU) for the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS). The Stryker MGS variant uses a 105mm cannon mounted in a low-profile turret integrated in the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV)-III chassis.
'The Stryker is the centrepiece of the US Army's effort to transform itself into a more agile and deployable force and presently has variants operating in Iraq', said Dave Adams, President Curtiss-Wright Controls.
'We're very proud to be associated with this important General Dynamics programme'.
Combined, the three systems will provide fully automated loading and ammunition replenishing of the 105mm cannon to achieve sustained high fire rates needed in tomorrow's battlefield.
The autoloader controller works in concert with the TSEU to control loading and unloading of the MGS main gun.
The autoloader also works with the replenisher controller to transfer the main gun munitions from the replenisher to the ammunitions carousel.
All three systems will be manufactured at the Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing facility in Santa Clarita, California.
Deliveries will begin in August of 2005 and run until November 2006.
It is also expected that CWCEC will receive similar follow-on orders between Q4 2006 and Q3 2007.
