Sun sets sights on Asian expansion

Tom Sun is the new Vice President, Asia Pacific Operations for PMC-Sierra.

Tom Sun is the new Vice President, Asia Pacific Operations for PMC-Sierra.
Previously, Sun was the vice president and general manager of PMC-Sierra's access-related products which are used in telecommunications, data communications and wireless infrastructure equipment.
"Tom's extensive knowledge of the overall Asian market environment, combined with his communications IC experience and management expertise, will be a great asset to PMC-Sierra as we grow in Asia", said Bob Bailey, PMC-Sierra's chairman, president and CEO.
"PMC-Sierra is currently working with many key OEM customers in Asia and we are committed to being one of the preferred suppliers of communication ICs and MIPS-based processors in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan".
Sun joined PMC-Sierra in 1995 as a product line manager for the ATM/PDH/HDLC products.
He was promoted to director of marketing in the Access Products Division in 1999 and then vice president and general manager in 2001.
Prior to joining PMC-Sierra, Sun was the manager for the Image Processing Group at MPR Teltech from 1987 to 1995.
Sun holds a systems design/computer engineering degree from the University of Waterloo.
