British computer company Pelham Sloane has chosen the South Wales region to produce its innovative, award-winning, all-in-one desktop computer, the PS1500.

British computer company, Pelham Sloane, has chosen the South Wales region to produce its innovative, award-winning, all-in-one desktop computer, the PS1500.

The new computer is being assembled by BreconRidge Manufacturing Solutions at its 8700m2 facility in Portskewett, Monmouthshire.

The PS1500 incorporates the entire computer behind the flat screen, eliminating the need for either a bulky tower or a cumbersome monitor.

Recently, the PS1500 has won two innovation awards: an Innovations 2004 Design and Engineering Showcase and "Technology is a Girl's Best Friend" award at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in January.

Pelham Sloane is a London based, privately held company that designs, manufactures and markets patent-protected all-in-one, personal computers.

The patent allows the computer to be integrated behind a flat screen measuring only 70mm deep and providing significant space efficiency.

The company is targeting vertical market applications which, in many cases, represent incremental uses of computers.

Key vertical markets include: home automation, healthcare, retailing (POS and kiosk), and hospitality.

Pelham Sloane sells to value-added resellers, system integrators, solution providers and others who sell to end users.

Martin George, Managing Director of BreconRidge said: "We are very proud to be selected by Pelham Sloane as its partner in developing and manufacturing its highly innovative range of PCs".

"At BreconRidge, we pride ourselves in being able to work closely with the OEM to accelerate time to market, ensure the highest quality and achieve cost competitive advantage." Similar to Dell, Pelham Sloane delivers on a build-to-order basis, and a wide range of options are available.

The units range from approximately GBP 1000 for a Via 933MHz processor, 20Gbyte hard drive, 128Mbyte RAM, CD drive with XP Professional software, right up to the highest spec for approx GBP 1400, which includes a Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 80Gbyte hard drive, 1Gbyte RAM, DVD-RW drive, two PCMCIA slots, touch screen, wireless networking, wireless keyboard with XP Professional software and a three year on site warranty.

As an example of a standard configuration, the retail cost of a Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 40Gbyte hard drive, 256Mbyte RAM, CD drive, black unit loaded with XP Professional would be around GBP 1199.
