An intelligent synchronous four-port WAN AdvancedMC module allows system designers to embed communications connectivity in a small form factor.

Preformance Technologies has announced the beta release of the AMC335, an intelligent synchronous four-port WAN, AdvancedMC module Designed for embedded engineers seeking to provide communications connectivity in a small form factor, the AMC335 can be easily integrated into the company's recently launched MicroTCA offerings that include the award-winning 1U MicroTCA chassis, the MTC5070, and the highly integrated, ready-to-use Advanced Managed Platform, the AMP5070

The AMC335 is a fully programmable communications subsystem that is capable of sustaining high datarates for a variety of protocols that are used in synchronous data communications.

The architecture of the AMC335 capitalises on the intelligence of the Freescale MPC8270 Quad Integrated Communications Controller (PowerQUICC II), which enables it to act as an optimised communications controller.

The module is ideally suited for use in creating flexible and efficient radar gateways, radar recorders, protocol convertors, serial gateways, and front-end I/O elements as well as many other communications devices that require RS232, RS422 (RS449/EIA530), and V.35 connectivity.

The AMC335 is fully supported by NexusWare, the company's CGL 4.0 Registered Linux OS and development environment, as well as a complete set of installable WAN communications protocols.

"The AMC335 and our suite of NexusWare WAN protocols including Radar Receiver/SBSI, HDLC, X.25, TADIL-B, Asynchronous Data Transfer, and Frame Relay, are compatible with operating systems that include Linux, Windows, or Solaris", says Steven Wigent, Senior Product Manager for Performance Technologies.

"This allows us to provide design teams with another powerful AMC-based building block for their applications requiring a serial-based, I/O communications module".
