110V battery charger for Sharjah substation

Following an integrated improvement project, implemented by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, PB Design has provided a dual 110V battery charger for a new 220 kV substation

Following an integrated improvement project, implemented by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa), Bristol based PB Design has provided Alstom T and D with a dual 110V battery charger for a new 220 kV substation associated with Wasit Power Station. Alstom has installed two gas turbine units with a capacity of 60 megawatts at the station and the project includes a 220 kV overhead line connecting the power and desalination plant with Sajja 220 kV substation and on to the 132 kV stations at the Sports Centre and Al Hamriya. PB Design's customised, microprocessor-controlled 110V 175A battery charger has been designed for ultimate reliability.

Backing up the station's switchgear, it has been installed complete with 800 apH Ni-Cd batteries which cope easily with the areas extreme environmental conditions which can reach 50C during the Summer months.
