Orlin Technology reckons its OT731 embedded Internet kit is the easiest way to make embedded projects "Internet-enabled". It can function as an embedded web server, web client or e-mail engine. It comes complete with source code and schematics.

The OT731 is the ideal way to "kick-start" Seiko S-7601-based designs.

It is also an excellent device for providing "hands on" embedded Internet experience in colleges or universities.

The OT731 primarily consists of a Microchip PIC16F877 microcontroller, a Seiko S-7601 hardware TCP/IP-UDP-PPP stack (incorporating iReady's iTuner technology) and an Insight Electronics SLM2400i 2400 baud embedded modem module.

Because the S-7601 functions as a TCP/IP "coprocessor" to the PIC16F877 and effectively provides a "hardware API", it enables connection to the Internet with the minimum of code overhead.

This design can easily be adapted to suit any microcontroller, and Orlin is pleased to quote for custom designs.
