Omron has extended its high-frequency relay series by introducing a new 25.6GHz coaxial model, capable of carrying 120W at 3GHz for mobile communications base-station and antenna applications. The G9YA is the latest addition to the company's HF range, which offers low power consumption in a compact format. The new relays are single-pole, double-throw type (SPDT), and are offered in either latching or fail-safe, non-latching configurations.

Both feature low power consumption and space-saving size.

The fail-safe model requires just 700mW (12V DC), while the latching version saves even more power because it requires only a set or reset pulse to change operating state.

Consumption is a mere 500mW (12V DC) in this case.

Despite this, the relays are capable of handling output up to 120W at 20C.

The devices are housed in a small 34 x 13.2 x 37.8mm package, enabling high density switching solutions to be developed for wireless infrastructure equipment at 3GHz, Digital TV and CATV applications at ideally 1.5GHz.

Performance is characterised by a combination of high isolation (55dB minimum at 26.5GHz) and low insertion loss, less than 0.8dB at 26.5GHz.

Other HF characteristics include maximum VSWR of 1.7 and switching time lower than 15ms.

However, an excellent 0.2dB insertion loss at 1GHz goes along with 85dB isolation.

As well as transmitter, receiver, power amplifier and low-noise amplifier redundancy switching, the broad range of applications for these relays extend to base-station antennas, band-pass filters, and tower-mounted amplifiers.

Other relays in the Omron HF family include the G6Z 2.6GHz SPDT relay, G6W 5GHz relay with Y-shaped terminals, G6K-RF compact DPDT models and the microstrip-based 900MHz relay, the G6Y. Request a free brochure from Omron Electronics....
