A new low-profile mains power relay offers VDE-compliant 10A switching capability in a case 20% lower than existing devices, while maintaining the industry accepted footprint

A new low-profile version of Omron's standard mains power relay offers VDE-compliant 10A switching capability in a case 20% lower than its existing range, while maintaining the industry accepted footprint for this style of device. Aimed at space challenged home appliances and industrial control environments, the new Omron G5LB relay is just 15.2mm high, yet fully matches the performance specification of the G5LE, which is 3mm taller.

Often the relay is the tallest component on the board, and this height reduction can deliver significant benefits in terms of overall system size.

The new relay shares all the major electrical specifications of the G5LE, and has been approved by the VDE (to EN618010), UL and CSA.

The relay is rated to handle resistive loads of up to 10A at 250V AC.

Omron is offering the G5LB in fully sealed (RTIII) or flux-tight (RTII) packaging.

Tracking resistance meets or exceeds CTI250, and the new relay is available in SPDT and SPDT-NO configuration.

The relay has a coil power consumption of 360mW as standard; and in line with Omron policy the new device is RoHS compliant (lead and cadmium free).

The G5LB is being offered as an alternative to the higher profile G5LE, which is ideal for less space critical applications, and the larger, lower cost G5LC.
