Omron has a new series of miniature flat single-pole/single-throw normally open relays for high-density PCB mounting
The G6L family is one of the thinnest relays in the world, making it ideal for applications where compact component mounting is necessary, such as modem/PC peripherals, telephones, office automation machines, audio-visual and communications products, measurement devices and security equipment.

Available in both through-hole and surface mount versions, with 3, 4.5, 12 and 24V DC coil voltages, the G6L measures just 7.00 x 10.6mm; the SMD version is 4.2mm high, whereas the TH version is only 3.8mm high.
The compact dimensions mean that the G6L can save typically 20% in mounting area and over 60% in volume compared with the Omron's G5V-1 relays.
The G6L relays ensure a dielectric strength between coil and contacts of 1kV AC, and a high dielectric strength between contacts of the same polarity of 750V AC.
It also conforms to the FCC Part 68 specification, featuring an impulse withstand voltage of 1.5kV AC for 10 x 160us.
Other key characteristics of the G6L include a contact resistance of 100mohm (measured at 10mA/1V DC), operating time of 1.1ms (maximum 5ms), and release time of 0.4ms (maximum 5ms).
The new relays are also environmentally friendly, with the use of lead completely eliminated and conforms to UL60950 and CSA22.2 (UL and CSA certified).
