Omron has a new miniature SMD tilt switch for equipment tilt detection in space-constrained devices

This reliable, no-contact version is suitable for use in handheld equipment such as digital cameras, PDAs and mobile phones to ensure correct orientation of text and graphics when the device is tilted. Measuring just 5.5 x 5.5 x 3.75mm, the compact D6B micro tilt switch from Omron uses micromachine manufacturing and magnetic technology to achieve exceptional miniaturisation while retaining high switching reliability.

The D6B features two switched outputs, left and right, which both remain high (Vmax 0.5V) when the device is in a neutral position.

Once the device is tilted beyond the operational angle of 35 to 65 degrees, the relevant output switches to a low (0.5V) output.

Typical return angles for the device are 60 to 30 degrees.

The D6B requires 2.7 to 3.3V DC rated supply voltage and is also ideal for use in head-tilt control devices for people with diminished hand mobility.
