In addition to supplying major motor manufacturers with connector products for in-car electronic and electrical systems, ODU can supply a variety of adapters for testing the increasing number of electronic components. Testing in more relevant than ever before since many electronics devices now actually control car functions such as traction and braking.

The Mini-Snap range offers over 300 catalogue inserts and the company can also design and manufacture bespoke components based on the standard design principle
High-quality measuring instruments demand high-performance connectors because the connections between the test piece, measuring instrument and between the measuring instrument and the evaluation unit usually face harder conditions than the measuring instruments.
Also changing connections frequently within a very short time puts an enormous strain on plugs and sockets so the units must cope with this while still being easy to use.
Flat and springwire contacts offering 100,000 insertions are often used for straightforward jobs such as test connecting window motors and seat heaters.
However in the generic automatic test tools (GATT) used for hardware and software test, the ODU MAC modular system can be fitted in a DIN housing to speed connection to the test or inspection system.
Connector reliability is even more critical in crash testing as these are very expensive to re-run, so nothing can be left to chance.
Often measurement boxes for crash tests use the Mini-Snap push-pull connectors, which are also used on the high-speed cameras that record and analyse crash tests and airbag openings.
Similarly they are used with data acquisition modules on engine test stands to enable remote instrumentation to be used.
In creating test modules the company draws from its extensive standard range of interconnection products but can also design and produce components specifically for a task.
