Access points ease network testing
Test access points allow diagnostic access to computer networks without breaking the circuit
New Forest Electronics has introduced a range of TAPs (test access points) that allow diagnostic access to computer networks without breaking the circuit. A TAP provides two or more permanent inline access ports to allow the monitoring of full-duplex network traffic without data-stream interference.

Handheld serial data analyser can now act as a level convertor, and as a half to full-duplex or full to half-duplex convertor
Once connected into circuit, a TAP avoids downtime by allowing monitoring equipment to be connected or removed as required, without affecting the network.
Unlike span ports, these TAPs allow the monitoring of all seven protocol layers and any package size, including errors.
They are nonintrusive for 100% security (no IP address), and fault tolerant, with no packet loss if power fails.
The TAPs are fully IEEE802.3/802.3af and VoIP compliant.
Versions are available not only for copper based Ethernet networks (including gigabit), but also for fibre optic LANs and WANs.
The range includes portable models, ideal for field servicing, as well as rack-mounting and multiport versions for permanent installation.
