New Forest Electronics has added a significant new feature to its SDA-02 handheld serial data analyser. Now the analyser can be used as a handheld terminal by transmitting user-defined "test messages" to control equipment connected to a serial data link. This new facility brings a number of benefits: it saves equipment and time when solving asynchronous serial data problems; it transmits test messages to control and test over RS232, RS485 or 5V logic lines; responses are seen immediately on the analyser display; there is a user-defined library of up to ten different messages at any one time, each sent using a single keystroke; and a full analyser range of speed, bits and parity.
The new facility is standard on new analysers, and available as an upgrade for all existing models.
