Nutwood UK has announced full details of the conference programme that will run alongside the EMC UK 2004 exhibition at Newbury Racecourse on 12th and 13th October

As there have been many changes in legislation, standards, and design techniques, as well as a much broader involvement of government and industry, EMC UK 2004 will encompass not only EMC but related topics such as the Low Voltage Directive, functional safety, WEEE and telecommunications, and the conference programme reflects the complete spectrum of issues that are concerning designers.

Session A covers European Directives, environmental legislation for electrical and electronic products and EMC and functional safety.

The keynote address will be given by Thierry Brefort of the European Commission, and other highlights include "The new Automotive Directive" (Terry Beadman of Mira) and "Complying with the WEEE and RoHS Directives".

Session B includes a detailed analysis of EMC issues that affect the rail industry, and references work on the channel tunnel (Dominic Kelsey of Rail Link), and the London Underground (Peter Dorey of TUV PS).

Other topics in this stream include "Mobile basestations and health" (Hugo Bibby, Link Microtek) and "Automotive EMC and mobile communications" (Graeme Eastwood, Qinetiq).

Session C concentrates on defence, testing and powerline communications.

Headline topics include "The development of new NATO standards" (Richard Briant of the MOD), "Inconsistencies in test standards" (Warwick Gibbons) and "PLT and broadcasting - can they co-exist" (Jonathan Stott, BBC).

Comments Alan Hutley, MD of organiser Nutwood UK: "We have lined up a wide-ranging programme that will be of interest to experts and novices alike".

"The speakers are all confirmed experts in their field, and we expect the sessions to be insightful, interact and perhaps even controversial".

Workshop sessions will also run alongside the main conference streams.

The EMC UK 2004 conference programme steering committee comprises five independent EMC experts each with their own international reputation for excellence in all aspects of EMC and EMC related subjects: Phil Carter of ACEmark Europe; Keith Armstrong of Cherry Clough Consultants; Dave Imeson of Compliance Europe; Tim Williams of ELMAC Services; and Jim Wood of EMC compliance (Conference Co-ordinator).
