The UK's NPL is inviting companies to participate in a suite of material development programmes that concern the electronics industry - including characterising lead-free reliability

Industry has an opportunity to collaborate in a suite of material programmes launched by the UK government's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Three of these are at NPL in the electronics materials area. They address the areas of characterising lead-free reliability, new generations of conductive adhesives and recyclable substrates, and corrosion properties of lead-free materials.

NPL is also running two specific projects, again on a collaborative basis: looking at tin whiskers; and PCB reliability, particularly z expansion issues and conductive anodic filamentation (CAF).
