New from is Nicomatic the Triax family of connectors, which offer a 5mm contact pitch for the CMM connector series 350 (CMM300)

The first products available are female contacts on twinax cable and male contacts on PCB (straight and 90 degrees through a flexible circuit soldered on PCB). A valuable and innovative feature of these devices is that the contacts can be inserted in a 'low cost' connector body, offering substantial space savings.

Nicomatic enables a reduction in cost, while reaching the same level of performance as much more expensive contacts.

The Triax contacts can be mounted on a standard connector or inside an electronic system.

The main application for the Triax contacts is military and aerospace systems.

The material and surface treatments are compatible with the high demands of this market.

Security of data transmission is ensured by the MIL1553 bus, an aerospace standard for signal transmission.

The cables also conform to MIL-C-17/176D norm.

Nicomatic recommends a 0.6mm diameter hole in the printed circuit board (PCB) to ensure optimum manufacturability.

Nicomatic has made use of its expertise in miniaturising connectors to achieve a small 4.5mm footprint, and the Triax family also has the advantages of mounting the contact in a twinax cable, secured transmission and the ability to use up to 12 contacts in a single row connector (using glass-fibre-filled thermoplastic UL94V0).

The connectors offer an operating temperature of -55 to +125C and 500 insertion cycles.
